Putting Your Best Foot Forward {Trusting Faces}

In our everyday lives we are assailed with visual images. They are on billboards, bus stops, television, shop windows, magazine stands, the Internet and many more. Most places where text is the priority have at least one image to keep the eye involved and the reader entertained. Have you noticed that when you open up an email and there is an image attached your eye goes there first? Or perhaps you’ve seen a realtor’s billboard highlighting one very important accomplishment such as being ranked number one in their city. Their portrait is always included.

Billboards are designed to be in your line of sight when you are stuck in traffic. You see the French fries or hamburger before you realize what restaurant is at the next exit or only a few miles away. Do you then ask yourself if you are hungry or were you distracted long enough to be open to the suggestion?

A well-taken business portrait will catch your potential client’s eye and hold their interest. Once their curiosity is piqued your chosen text will feed them the essentials that will have them hungry for more details. Information they believe only you can provide. And looking at your business portrait brings a trust that is not found in just text alone.

So, this week I want you to think about your headshot as a personal billboard.

  • Could you be pulling in your clientele with one eye catching shot?
  • Are you drawn in by your current business headshot?
  • Think of someone you admire; Are you engaged by their business headshot? Do they look trustworthy?

    • “I was so pleased with my headshot, it’s on the front page of my blog and on my website bio!” Yes, you can use that testimonial 🙂
