I loved, loved, loved this wedding! The Scottish theme was perfectly executed and not cheesy or over the top at all. Alastair is from Scotland, not far from where my family live, and Jennifer grew up in England, but has been a California girl for a long time, although her heart remains in the hills of her new love, Scotland. (Who wouldn’t love it?!?) They met whilst both playing their bagpipes in their respective backyards. The could hear each other and followed the sound until the found each other.
The were married in a private home in Altadena, CA, on August 19th, 2009. It was an extremely hot day. I mean really, really hot! It may have dampened our shirts, but it did not dampen our spirits! It was a very personal service, with friends singing, reciting poetry and even a female barber shop quartet!
The highlight of the evening was the Ceilidh dancing (Scottish country dancing),with the live band. We then moving into the Llama LLounge, a actual old hut that used to hold Llamas, that was made into a bar, complete with beer on tap and a dart boards. The evening was ended among special friends, singing and laughing together, just the way Jenn and Al will continue their marriage.
Below are some images from their wedding that I made into a wedding guest book for them to take to Scotland for their relatives, who couldn’t make it to the wedding here, to see what their special day was like, to get the feel. They also wanted it with space available for their Scottish relatives to be able to sign and write some thoughts. That way they can bring it back here and have it close. I am so happy with the way it turned out and would love to know what you think.
Just testing out my cool new comment area!
