A Hot English Wedding {Vicky and John’s Nuptuals}

Wow…this was a really hard one for me. Not in a bad way, but a good way! You may remember Vicky and John from their cool engagement session around Newcastle. They are friends of mine that go way back, and I was honored to be able to shoot their wedding. The only problem was that Vicky is so gorgeous, and the wedding so well thought out, and with such detail that there are just too many images to choose from!

The day started with a trip to the salon for all the ladies, and then they got themselves presentable at a local hotel in Newcastle. The ceremony and reception were held at a beautiful place called The Alnwick Garden, in Alnwick. It was the first day of summer, and a really hot, perfect one. Their close friends and family were gathered in all their best gladrags to witness the ceremony. I found it difficult to keep shooting and not get caught up in the emotions of the service.

After the service, champagne was served and I managed to drag the family and bridal party away for some formal portraits… and fun ones too. I love the ones in front of Alnwick Castle. It makes them look so regal. The wedding breakfast was served in the most excellent Hansel and Gretal styled Treehouse. This place is like a wooden grotto, with lots of hidden nooks and crannies. It was so cool being under the tree canopy and gave the light a little green hue. During the breakfast her father gave a very heartfelt speech, that almost had me in tears, again.

The party bus moved back to Newcastle for the dancing portion of the evening. The Biscuit Factory is an art gallery, cafe, shop and generally cool place to be. John had a friends band play some funky music and everyone got to hang out and enjoy the love of John and Vicky. I had a great time hanging out with all our mutual friends, tasting the cake and of course lets not forget the most amazing and giant sticky toffee pudding I have ever seen. Mmm mmm mmm. I love all these images and am so happy for them both, as well as being super jealous of their honeymoon trip to Italy. I hope you both had a great time and thank you for letting me share in your day!

    Absolutely amazing photos Nic. We feel so privileged to have had you capture our special day. You’re amazing ability to be professional whilst making everyone feel relaxed was fantastic. We love the combination both posed and candid shots and feel you have really captured the spirit of the day. A friend who couldn’t make the wedding felt she got a real sense of the day both visually and emotionally from your photographs. What more could we ask for. Thank you so much for being at our wedding and capturing the memories. We are really looking forward to seeing the options for the album. Luv Vic & John (Mrs & Mrs Hardy)
