Pasadena Wedding Photographer {After The Show}

Wedding-Salon

So, now that you’ve been to the bridal show, what’s next?  Well, hopefully you got a good nights sleep, and are probably at work, hoping your boss won’t notice you planning your wedding, searching Pinterest and looking at blogs a day!  We all do it!  Here’s my advice as far as photography is concerned.

Go through your gift bags and look at all the goodies you got.  Try not to get too distracted by the glittery things.  Look at all the brochures you got from vendors that you liked and talked to.  Try and remember what it was about them that you liked.  Can you see them being a part of your wedding day?  There are so many little things that go into planning your wedding day and here are some tips that I highly recommend you think of when choosing your wedding photographer.

  • You have to love the images.  You have to love the way we capture certain aspects of the wedding that you hold most dear.

  • You have to like us.  After all, we will be standing few yards away from you for about 8 or more hours on your wedding day.  That’s a long time to be with someone you don’t feel comfortable with, or maybe have very opposite personalities or sense of humor from.

  • Do not, and I can’t stress this enough, DO NOT choose a photographer based on price alone.  I know we are all concerned with budget, but after the wedding one of the only things you will have left from your wedding day are your, often, foggy memories, and your wedding photography.  The cake will be eaten, the flowers will sadly wilt, but your photography will remain.  You could say I am biased, but all I know is I have had brides who have come back to my crying after choosing another photographer, for monetary reasons, and have asked me to try and fix their images.  This makes me very sad, as there are many photographers out there who do not follow the same technical or even moral principles that I do, and provide sub par work.  Do not let budget be your main concern.

  • Ask questions.  Ask all the photography questions you can possibly think of.  Ask to see several FULL weddings from start to finish to make sure that the whole wedding is covered from start to finish and there isn’t just one or two great images from the day.  You want to be overwhelmed with choice of your beautiful day.

***Bonus Tip:  You got some great bridal magazines at the show.  Go through them and tear out all the images that you love, and want your photographer to be able to capture something similar of for you.  I love getting these ideas from you.  And the same with your Pinterest board. Knowing what you love, what group posing you find fun, what feeling you want form your images really helps me on the wedding day.  And it’s fun!
